Hi there,
Welcome to the 14th edition of Axie News. This newsletter is brought to you by Sewon and Mr.Kepolas, together we run this small publication called The Marwon Academy. Today, we would like to say THANK YOU! To all of you who follow us on this crazy journey. Without you, we would not have any purpose.
Now, onto todays topics! :)
🕹 Axie Infinity Updates
After a series of big updates and new products, things finally started to settle down, and now it’s time to focus on Arena battles, experiment with team compositions, and keep building.
As expected, the Season 19 balancing patch impacted the marketplace. Some axies lost their value while others became outrageously expensive. (I’m talking about super-fast mechs with a blazing amount of damage). But all in all, the update brought more diversity to the arena, things aren’t so polarising anymore.
A couple of days ago, Sky Mavis has banned more than 24.000 axies across 10.000 Ronin addresses. These accounts have violated Axie Infinity terms and conditions, such as energy abuse and multi-accounting. Raids like this are important to protect the community and the overall economy of the game. - Sewon
💰 State of the Economy
Recently the whole crypto went in the red. With the drop in Ethereum prices comes the drop of the Axie Infinity token prices. SLP took the hardest hit and it's now at around 0,064 USD. AXS however, managed to detach itself a bit from the whole market and dropped a little less than what we would usually expect in this situation. AXS's price is now at 138,35 USD. No need to panic, this is completely normal and will stabilize. Crypto moves in circles.
On the AXS staking, we now have 2,16B USD worth of AXS staked with an APR of 114%. That APR number is crazy high still. If you have some AXS to stake you should do it.
Or, you could farm some RON. This is also an option. To everyone new to the Katana and RON please check THIS GUIDE by Brycent on how to farm RON.

👨🏽🤝👨🏽 Community Spotlight
In today’s community spotlight, I would like to present Nixtape. Fellow community member from the Philippines and an awesome Axie player. Recently I have started to follow his tweets more regularly and I must say he brings a lot of knowledge on the arena side of Axie. He documents his journey in the arena and comments on recent meta builds. His feed is definitely something you want to follow to get the daily information directly from the arena. Show him some love and follow him on Twitter @nixeniego. - Mr.Kepolas
🎨 Lunacian Art Scene
Today I want to mention an amazing artwork made by Linn. It is a beautiful dreamy world with lots of colors, Japanese vibes, and axies! But what makes it even better is the fact that this artwork is an actual NFT minted on OpenSea. 99 copies only. If you like this scene, want to support the artist, or you are an Axie Infinity fan, then head over to OS and get one copy for yourself! The link is here. - Sewon
⚔ eSports Overview
If I haven’t mentioned it earlier, Axie Infinity now has a dedicated eSports Twitter account that you can follow for all of the updates about eSports in Lunacia. There is a rumor that this account is run by Zyori, but most likely it’s run by a new eSports employee that works under Zyori. Anyways, this is a great way to stay on top of everything happening in the Lunacian eSports scene and it also makes my job for this part of the newsletter so much easier :)
Today we witnessed the MYSTIC FINALS of the LSL (Lunacian Scholarship League) It was another great day for Axie.gg guild as their Bloom | Axie.gg took the win. I must say guys over at Axie.gg are killing it with the preparation and training of their eSport teams. Right now, without a doubt in my mind, they are the best eSports organization in the Lunacia. - Mr.Kepolas
❓ Question of the Week
What is the best team composition to break into top 1000 in Season 19?
I struggled to give a specific answer to this question last week. The main reason is that S19 has just started and the meta is still forming. But during one of the streams, I actually talked about team comps, and I have discovered a lot of interesting ideas from the top 100 players (some Discord servers are really useful). I am just going to mention some of them here.
Aquatic abilities (cards) were nerfed, but Aquas, in general, are still strong. Their base stats are incredibly good. Fast, durable with a lot of damage potential. Just find the right build and you are good to go. Aquas with beast and bug damage might be a great option for your mid/back lane.
Bumpy + Bone Sail combination allows you to generate cards infinitely. Bumpy recovers shield per turn (each card used) and bone sail generate cards when shield breaks. So if the opponent decides to go full damage, the Bumpy + Bone Sail combination provides a good amount of shield and lets you generate a ton of cards. You might end up with 4-5 extra cards for the next round. Beware though, that such mechanic might get fixed/nerfed.
As for team compositions, Double plant + Bird is a great choice for this season. But, make sure to have some bug/beast damage. High damage bug cards look really good on mid/front lane plants. Another choice is to have a bird, mech, and plant combination. But, mechs are still vulnerable, so I would suggest having an ‘Eggbomb’ bird to have some outplay potential.
