🚀 Axie News #005
Hello fellow Lunacian,
Welcome to Axie News number five! It's been a quiet week, even though there has been a lot of stuff happening in the crypto world. But don't worry, there are still some things to talk about. Axie Community is always on the move.
Today we are skipping the podcast version of the newsletter. Mr.Kepolas lost his voice due to a flu. Recover fast dude!

🕹 Axie Infinity Updates
No significant updates were in the game this week. But we found an insightful interview with the co-founder of Sky Mavis, Alexander Larsen. He talked about the game's origins and how the team managed to grow and sustain a community of 1.7m active players.
The part that has drawn my attention was about the future of Axie Infinity. Alexander highlights his vision and the firm belief that more than 4 billion people will join the game. Axie Infinity will grow into something bigger at some point because what we see right now is just a preseed of the Metaverse Sky Mavis is trying to build. - Sewon

💰 State of the Economy
Axie Infinity is the most valuable NFT collection as of 2021. Period. The project has generated more than 2B USD in sales. It's crazy considering how early the whole NFT and blockchain space is.
It's interesting to notice that Axie Infinity has never positioned themselves as NFT project. It's a crypto game, yet it surpassed all of the exciting NFT projects, including the iconic and well-known "unicorn" – CryptoPunks.
Despite such growth, both AXS (the governance token) and SLP (the utility token) are down in price comparing to last 2 months when both tokens hit the all-time-high. Many people think that right now is a time before Axie Infinity economy and ecosystem will boom again. Most likely, people are waiting for the new updates, Meta changes and Battle V2. We shall see. - Sewon
👨🏽🤝👨🏽 Community Spotlight
This week's community spotlight goes to DAVEvsAXIE. He is an amazing content creator that provides a tremendous amount of value on his streams every week. His thinking and ideas can help everyone watching his stream. On top of that, his YouTube videos about breeding are a must-watch for anyone starting this journey.
Recently he parted ways with the CTG guild, where he was a partner. Now he works as a free agent exploring opportunities in the NFT world. Dave is hands-on, creative, and business-oriented. I was amazed by the new competition format he created to help competitive players get better and for an average player watching to learn from the professionals.
The KING OF THE HILL content that Dave shares every Thursday is epic. His analytical approach to every game while providing commentary is terrific. Dave is a member of the early adopters of Axie Infinity and a treasured part of the community. Check his YAT for links to his socials and give him a follow. You will not be disappointed. - Mr.Kepolas
🎨 Lunacian Art Scene
Choosing the best artwork was tough this week. There are so many talented artists in Lunacia, and they have their unique style and vision. But for us, The Marwon Academy, pixel art is out of any competition. The artist must pay attention to every pixel, which makes creating pixel art both challenging and rewarding. This magnificent animated artwork was created by @AzacielXD. I love the colors and vibe here. If you like it as well, go and support the artist on Twitter. - Sewon
⚔ eSports Overview
The KING is back. Last weekend at Axie E1337 Open #3 organized by Axie.gg one of the best Axie Infinity players, Indes representing Axie.gg, won first place. Out of 256 competitors in the single-elimination bracket, he emerged victoriously. The competition was fierce. Second place went to Bloom also from Axie.gg guild. Bloom is considered to be a star in the rising as a competitive Axie Infinity player. The overall competition was great with lots of amazing matches.
It is important to mention that both CTG and Axie.gg guilds have recruited some very talented players lately increasing their eSports team. This only shows the potential of the Axie Infinity eSports scene.
Coming up next this weekend we have a very interesting tournament. AxieSEALeague is something you should definitely check out. The stream will be available HERE with commentary in English.
We're making history by being the first-ever National League Tournaments to be held on the 18th and 19 September. We will host the 2 days special event with our Esports partner from Vietnam as an inaugural league amongst the national teams in South East Asia. Our motto for this tournament that we are organizing will be "No Losers, Everybody Wins".
Another tournament happening this weekend is BGG Battalion Tournament. Unfortunately, I could not find any information about the tournament. - Mr.Kepolas
❓ Question of the Week
Where do you see Axie Infinity in five years from now?
After 5 years Axie Infinity will be a mainstream game. Both big players (Ubisoft, EA, Rockstar) and independent small indie developers will follow the path and build on top of the foundation and model created by Axie Infinity. Considering the super fast pace of the tech development, 5 years can bring a ton of changes and innovation. On a contrary side, in 5 years project like Axie Infinity might not even be haft way to its fullest potential. But I definitely see the US and EU market oboarded. I am hoping that some big anime production studio will release the whole anime series about Axies. The furure is exciting! We can chat about it on The Marwon Academy discord channel. - Sewon
